Terry Fox Run

TERRY FOX RUN

Friday September 30th 2016

Welcome back to the 2016-2017 school year! This year we’d like to hit the ground running, literally.  To celebrate Terry Fox and to bring awareness to cancer research, we would like see how many kilometres our kids can run collectively as a school. This can happen in many ways. Students can run individually or as a team (dress up in fun costumes, face paint, streamers etc). For those who wish not to jog/run, no worries, they can still participate and dress up! Those who do not run will be walking a 3km loop while our runners attempt to max out their totals on a (1-2 kms loop).  The walking totals would also be put towards our school’s collective goal! If there are any parents out there that would like to form a team to run together, to run with their child or even just to come out to join the cause, we’d love to have them! We will begin with an assembly in the gym at 10:10 am. We anticipate concluding the run 11:30 am at which time we will be selling some cold refreshing Freezies for $2.00 each. Proceeds from sale of the freezies will go directly to the Terry Fox Foundation.

Come on out and join us in getting some exercise while supporting a great cause!

HPV VACCINES: an Interactive Information Evening for Parents OCTOBER 20th 6:00-8:00pm
Jameswood Alternative School 1 Braintree Cres
There is a great deal of conflicting information about vaccines in social media. For families with girls in 5th and 6th grades anticipating their vaccination, with older daughters who missed it, or those with sons for whom they are considering private vaccination, we invite you to meet with local doctors to explore these topics together. Resident physicians from Women's Health at St. Boniface and Women's Hospitals will host an evening with multiple stations where parents can learn about the virus, about the role of vaccination to prevent cervical cancer before it starts, and to participate in small group sessions where parents' questions and concerns can be addressed in a welcoming environment.
For families who would like pizza, please RSVP number of persons attending and if you prefer meat or vegetarian options: hpvnight@gmail.com
For families who would like childcare, please RSVP the number and ages of children attending: hpvnight@gmail.com

Welcome Back! Bonne rentrée!

Welcome Back!  Bonne rentrée!
We would like to extend a WELCOME BACK to all of our grade 7 & 8 students and a special BIENVENUE to our new grade 6 students. We hope you all had a terrific summer and are looking forward to a great year of learning.
Most of us are new to Ness this year, students and staff alike.  We are thrilled to embark upon this adventure together.  Throughout the year, we will develop new relationships, engage in new experiences and expand our knowledge. We will make lasting memories and celebrate our accomplishments and successes together.
The staff is excited to meet all of our families during Triad Conferences. We believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential for our students’ success. We welcome your questions, thoughts and stories.  Please help us to get to know you!
We are looking forward to all the learning that will take place over the course of the year and watching our students get involved in many extra-curricular activities.  This is a great way to connect to the school life and develop relationships with staff and fellow students outside the classroom structure.  Students will be sure to hear several announcements about these upcoming activities in the first few days of school.  Stay tuned.
We look forward to wonderful year and we hope to see you at our BBQ on Tuesday, September 20 from 4:30 – 6:00, followed by our Annual General Parent Council meeting at 6:15!
